Or the smugglers idea of a nice place to stop of for a pint and a chit chat. Yesterday was a splendind day we went in glorious sunshine to Avon wood and walked on soft russet leaves and listened to the river rushing to the Atlantic, through wooded vales and emerald green hills. We went to the best looking garden center ever. We had coffee in the sunshine and then came home for an early lunch. In the afternoon we went to Bigbury Bay where the Pilchard Inn stands on a small Island called Burgh Island and when the tide is high you can't walk over to it and have to be ferried to and fro on a tall standing slow moving, person carrying tractor. Yesterday the tide was low and the sun glistened in the pools of water left in the wet sand. Ellie told me of smugglers caves and hideouts and how smuggler friendly people would leave a candle alight in their windows to let them know they would be safe to stop for a while there, before they went onto the cities to sell their stolen goods.
I sat and painted and felt calm take my soul.
We then went back to Thurlstone Beach and watched the setting sun, and then Ellie took me to a church that was built in the 13th century. It has no roof and was left to loneliness and neglect int he 18th century until the friends of the friendless churches decided to take it under their wing. You can feel the love and the lost souls, You can almost see the people standing in the church, now empty and filled with grass. It is quite quite beautiful and a special place.
Ellie said 'time for one more' and took me to North Sands in Salcombe, ooh la la so beautiful and we bumped into one of Ellie's dear friend walking her dog on the beach, and sang our hearts out loudly to the waves.
Off home and yet another michelen star dinner cooked by Ellie and we wathced quite a few episodes of Lost in Austin, I had one of the best days I have had in a long time. Thank you God and thank you Ellie

Magnificent! That inn is just wonderful. I would definitely love to stay there, even for just one night. Just look at the hills behind it, they're very picturesque.
